Bowler motorsport got involved and whilst the engine remained as a 2.2 Tdci, it was uprated to 185bhp, along with a new ECU, bigger intercooler and a lower ratio transfer box (probably 1.4). The suspension includes changes to the lower link and radius arms, front and rear anti rollbars (extended at the rear), rose jointed Bilstein shock absorbers with straps to prevent dislocation on extreme droop. The rear axle was fitted with a limited slip differential and a hydraulic handbrake fitted, which required the disconnection of the ABS. A full internal/external Safety Devices roll cage was fitted, with Recaro seats and a 4 point safety harness on the inside. The 37 inch tyres were accommodated with wider eyebrows and the rear tub was modified to increase the height of the wheel arch. Many replicas exist, but there are only ten Defenders that can be called a genuine "Spectre SVX Concept".
